The resolution is based on the concept of the nationwide program "Yashil Makon" being implemented in our country at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, which is aimed at preserving and restoring biodiversity through greening of urban and rural areas.
The document reflects the key proposals on effectively countering climate change and combating land degradation, voiced by the Head of our state during the 78th session of the General Assembly and the 28th UN Climate Change Conference.
The resolution was co-sponsored by more than 90 member countries, including all Central Asian countries, Azerbaijan, Austria, Belgium, Bahrain, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Indonesia, Qatar, China, KSA, Latvia, Mongolia, Morocco, Oman, UAE, Pakistan, Portugal, Russia, Republic of Korea, Türkiye, France and other countries representing various world regions.
The resolution comprehensively discloses the economic, social and environmental benefits of sustainable forest management and tree planting. It emphasizes their contribution to increasing biodiversity, mitigating the effects of climate change and air pollution, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, including poverty eradication and food security.
The resolution’s stands out by its compliance with the latest scientific trends in the field of environmental protection. Specific recommendations are provided to UN member states in the sphere of tree planting in order to preserve and increase biodiversity using nature-saving and ecosystem methods.
