Presidents of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan talk over the phone
On May 8, 2020, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The heads of state exchanged warm congratulations on the upcoming holiday – Victory Day over Fascism, wished veterans and fraternal peoples of the two countries peace, health and prosperity.
Special attention was paid to continuing close cooperation in order to eliminate the consequences of the emergency in Sardoba Reservoir in the border regions.
Further priority steps have been agreed on providing targeted assistance to the population and restoring infrastructure in the affected areas.
Presidents also considered the current epidemiological situation in connection with the spread of coronavirus infection. Full mutual support was expressed for measures taken at the national level to combat the pandemic, with the gradual easing restrictions for the population and business.
During the conversation, the importance of the speedy practical implementation of the agreements in trade and economic sphere was emphasized, including the preparation and promotion of promising projects in automotive, agricultural, and processing industries, transport and logistics, and other sectors.
The leaders of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan also exchanged views on a number of issues on the international agenda.
Commitment was expressed towards building up Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan full cooperation based on centuries-old friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership.
